LG Plans to Unveil Android 3.0 Tablet PC

LG Inc has geared up to venture in the tablet market. It has decided to launch a new 8.9 inch tablet based on a new imminent version of Google's Android operating system.
The news was confirmed by a source close to the matter. The global number 3rd vendor of the handsets will launch the tablet that would run on Honeycomb, Google’s upcoming operating system.
On the condition of anonymity, the source said it is being expected to be launched in South Korea and other parts of the world by 2011.
The new tablet will face a stiff competition as the tablet market has become congested after leading PC makers, such as Dell, HP, Acer, Samsung and other companies have already launched their tablets in the market.
Apple iPad is already ruling the tablet bazaar and is ahead of all the tablet makers in the world. It owns 95% of the emerging market, said Strategy Analytics.
Earlier LG had delayed the plan of launching a tablet based on Android 2.2 operating system. The device was named Froyo and the company promoted it as the most reliable Android version.
However, when Samsung Galaxy was launched in South Korea, LG stepped back.
In spite of the competition, the number of companies venturing into tablet market is on the rise. This is because of the fact that as a portable computing device, tablets are gaining popularity amongst the consumers.
